Created at the Regions’ initiative, the Natural Regional Park centres towns, departments, cities and conurbations in the territory’s neighbourhood around its Sustainable Development Project. Seven towns or conurbations in Lorraine, Alsace and Franche-Comté support the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park.

Located at the doors of the Plateau des Mille Etangs, the listed Tourist Resort of Luxeuil-les-Bains – labelled “Plus beaux détours de France” (Most Beautiful Detours of France) – enjoys a rich historic and architectural heritage. The Gallo-Roman era saw crafts develop around Thermal Baths, but the Colomban era was crucial for the city and Southern Vosges development in general. Irish monk Saint-Colomban settled in Luxeuil in 590. His spiritual and intellectual influence reached across the Massif from the cloister and abbey. The Renaissance left a rich architectural heritage to the city. Medieval homes, buildings listed Historic Monuments, Renaissance façades and architectural features in grey and pink sandstone never fail to enchant visitors. The city is also famous for its thermal baths, casino, plentiful green spaces, lace, festivals and art of living.
