Created at the Regions’ initiative, the Natural Regional Park centres towns, departments, cities and conurbations in the territory’s neighbourhood around its Sustainable Development Project. Seven towns or conurbations in Lorraine, Alsace and Franche-Comté support the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park.

Capital city of the Vosges Mountains, Saint-Dié-des-Vosges is located 2 hours and 20 minutes from Paris by TGV. Bordering Alsace, the World Capital of Geography was listed Historical City in 1998. It boasts 4,000 years of historic heritage, as well as remarkable natural wealth. 380 km of hiking trails wind through its four forest Massifs – Kemberg, Ormont, Madeleine and Bure. Its Deodatian heritage boasts an outstanding arts route. Built with pink sandstone typical of the Vosges, the cathedral is a harmonious blend of styles, notably Roman, Gothic, Classical, and Modern, as well as contemporary stained-glass windows, unique in Europe and created by and around Jean Bazaine. Under its futuristic wings, the “Tour de la Liberté” (Liberty Tower) shelters an outstanding jewel collection by Georges Braque. The city holds many more surprises: the Green Factory by Le Corbusier, Pierre-Noël Museum, Art Nouveau façades… from Amerigo Vespucci to Georges Braque, from Jules Ferry to Le Corbusier, this city has been shaped by history and geography. Its International Geography Festival attracts 40,000 visitors each year, over 4 days. A spellbinding heritage to discover!
