Hot-air balloon rides from summits, lush valleys or golden vineyards in autumn. Through a great diversity of environments and landscapes, the territory counts more than 7,000 km of trails marked by the Club Vosgien – which also provides various maps of the Massif and six Great Hiking Trails to discover landscapes, forests, Castles and picturesque villages at your leisure… the Clubs Alpin Français also propose many mountain sports activities. Many hiking trails are also proposed by local Tourist Offices, with all the necessary documentation: topo guides, detailed trails, maps… Great Hiking Trails From March to November, except in case of late snow on the summits, the Ballons des Vosges GR (Great Hike) is easy. Make sure you wear good walking shoes, and rain and wind gear, especially in the crest areas. Topo guides by the “Fédération Française de randonnée pédestre” (French Pedestrian Hike Federation) will guide hikers along GR trails. The most seasoned hikers can organize their trail themselves, over one or several days, with TOP 25 maps indicating available accommodation.
