The Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park is crossed by several long-distance hiking trails (GR routes). These trails are accessible from May to November, depending on the risk of late snowfall. Proper hiking boots and weather-appropriate gear (for raiLa diversité des paysages du Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges permet la pratique de nombreuses activités de pleine nature : randonnée, VTT, escalade, nautisme, activités hivernales, etc. Le Parc accompagne particulièrement la pratique de ces activités, et la façon de les découvrir est la même pour tous : avec respect, car dans ces milieux naturels, la faune et la flore sauvage sont fragiles. GR5 – The European Trail

Stretching 2,500 km, the GR®5 is a renowned long-distance hiking route, forming part of the European E2 trail. It traverses the Park from north to south, passing through the most iconic peaks of the Vosges. This legendary trail connects the North Sea to the Mediterranean, crossing both the Swiss and French Alps.

GR533

Initiated by the Club Vosgien and inaugurated in 1982, the GR533 is the most recent addition to the Vosges long-distance trails. It links Sarrebourg (Moselle) to Belfort, passing through Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, Gérardmer, and La Bresse (150 km) before reaching Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle. It bypasses the Ballon d’Alsace via the Ballon de Servance before descending through La Planche des Belles Filles towards Belfort.

GR7

The GR®7 spans France diagonally, from the Ballon d’Alsace to Andorra, crossing 4 regions and 18 departments. Within the Park, it runs east to west, passing through the Hautes-Vosges. This iconic trail links the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, passing through the Massif Central.

The Great ‘Échappées Vosgiennes’

The Great ‘Échappées Vosgiennes’ invite hikers to explore the Lorraine side of the Vosges Massif. With three interconnecting loops to mix and match as you please, these trails reveal the many landscapes and cultural treasures of the region, covering over 460 km of marked paths.
