The diverse landscapes of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park offer a perfect setting for a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking, climbing, water sports, and winter sports. The Park actively encourages these activities, ensuring they are enjoyed responsibly and with respect for the fragile wildlife and ecosystems. Let’s embrace the Quietude Attitude!

The waymarking of hiking trails is the result of dedicated work by passionate volunteers from two major hiking federations: The Club Vosgien Federation and the French Hiking Federation (FFRP).

The Club Vosgien Federation

Spanning the entire Vosges Massif, the waymarked trails maintained by the Club Vosgien are internationally recognised and form a vast network, allowing hikers to enjoy anything from short walks to multi-day treks. Volunteers from local associations maintain these routes, and the waymarking system is featured on IGN TOP25 maps.

The Club Vosgien has developed its own trail marking system, based on coloured geometric symbols (red, blue, green, and yellow). The shape of the symbol indicates the type of route, but the colour does not correspond to the difficulty level. This marking system can be found on most trails throughout the Vosges Massif.

The French Hiking Federation (FFRP)

The FFRP waymarking system consists of painted markings on trees, rocks, walls, and posts. The frequency of these markings depends on the terrain and visibility.
